A brief on me and what I care about
Pokala Sai Nithin
I'm Pokala Sai Nithin. I'm drawn to research because I want to understand difficult problems deeply, but I also believe ideas become meaningful when we act on them. My curiosity moves across AI, open source, quantum computing, and immersive technology, often leading me to experiment and build rather than remain within one field.
Right now, I'm especially curious about AI safety and governance. AI could transform healthcare, education, accessibility, scientific discovery, and many other parts of life. At the same time, increasingly capable systems can amplify bias, misinformation, surveillance, inequality, and other harms, especially when progress moves faster than our ability to guide it responsibly.
I'm not interested in opposing AI or treating its future only with fear. I want to understand how we can develop powerful systems while preserving human agency, accountability, fairness, and safety. I'm still learning, questioning, and forming my perspective. This website documents that journey.

An Inspiration

Claude Shannon and the joy of figuring things out

“The best work often begins as play.”

Claude Shannon is one of the people I return to when I think about what it means to be a serious researcher without becoming a narrow one. He helped establish information theory, showed how Boolean algebra could become working electrical circuits, and worked on cryptography, early machine learning, and communication.

What stays with me is the combination of depth and play. Shannon built an electromechanical mouse that learned to navigate a maze, cycled and juggled through Bell Labs, and filled his home with strange experiments and machines. He treated curiosity as something to practice with both a theorem and a hammer.

That is the kind of researcher I hope to become: rigorous enough to understand difficult ideas, playful enough to follow unexpected connections, and willing to build something just to see what it teaches me.
